Creative Non-Fiction to: email@example.com . Please address to T.M. De Vos and attach submissions as Word documents (.doc or .docx extensions). Include your contact information and a brief third-person bio at the end of your submission. Works of all lengths will be considered, but we prefer work of fewer than 2,000 words. Simultaneous submissions are encouraged, but please follow professional protocol. Response times vary, but if you have not heard back in 60 days, please query. Also, please wait to hear from us regarding a submission before sending in more work. All other general guidelines apply.
Poetry to: firstname.lastname@example.org . Please send between 1 and 5 pieces of poetry pasted in the body of the email, addressed to Luis Rivas. Original, unpublished works only. Attachments will not be opened. If you must use an attachment, query first. Do not send links to blogs or public forums for your work. Poems to be considered for Gloom Cupboard must be removed from blogs and such while under consideration and for a period of one month after publication if accepted. Non-English poetry will be considered if an English translation is provided with the submission. Emails must contain “submission” “subs” “poems” or something of the like in the subject line to indicate that you are art and not spam. If you would like a short, third-person bio to appear with your work you may send one with the poetry. Simultaneous submissions are encouraged, but please follow professional protocol. Response times vary, but if you have not heard back in 60 days, please query. Also, please wait to hear from us regarding a submission before sending in more work. All other general guidelines apply.
Flash Fiction or Short Story Fiction to: email@example.com Please attach all fiction in Word documents. Please type in the subject line “submission fiction” along with the name of your piece and your name or initials. This will help us keep track of your submission. Please include a word count in your email.
Book reviews to: firstname.lastname@example.org We urge you to query in the form of a cover letter mentioning content, genre, subgenre, etc. The editor-in-chief will assign a reviewer according to the tastes of the reviewers. Please send us a PDF–paper will do, but PDFs can be passed along, and you don’t spend much on the book or on sending costs. If your book is declined by at least two reviewers then, unfortunately, the review will not appear. We are flooded by requests and we have to make choices at some point. It doesn’t mean because we don’t like your book that it’s crap, Gloom Cupboard adheres a certain direction in writing and we stick to that. We will however not discriminate: excellent-quality writing will not be refused based on aesthetic preferences.
We also welcome guest articles, interviews, and reviews so if you want to talk about your local lit scene or profile a writer then feel free to contact us. For general inquiries, complaints or compliments: email@example.com
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis all year round.
